If you thought things couldn’t get any more — dare we say it — “Awkward” for Jenna on the hit MTV comedy of the same name, you should brace yourself for what’s to come in season two.

After Jenna (played by Ashley Rickards) learned who wrote the infamous letter in season one that led many of her school peers to think she tried to commit suicide, she’s now dealing with the aftermath at home. Oh yeah, she’s also in the middle of a bit of a love triangle between new boy, Jake, and old beau, Matty.

And given the fast pace of tonight’s (June 28) season premiere, expect her family and relationship drama to move along at a very rapid speed. “Season two takes place two weeks after the finale of season one, so everything is still very fresh, very prevalent,” Beau Mirchoff, who plays Matty, explained to MTV News. “The love triangle hasn’t been resolved, Sadie is as villainous as ever, all of her colors have shown. Jenna Hamilton has a lot of decisions to be made. I think the fans are going to love it.”

Molly Tarlov, who plays aforementioned mean girl Sadie, explained that if you thought you were going to get lulled into Jenna’s life drama this season, think again. “We really start season two in the first episode just full force into it. The story moves along so quickly in the first episode,” she said. “There’s a lot of stuff that I will not just say surprising, I will say absolutely shocking, and is gonna, if you watch the first episode, is going to be really shocking to you.”

[Warning: Spoiler ahead!]

In addition to having to keep her love life in check, Jenna is also reeling from the news that her mother was the one who wrote the letter that forever changed her life. And that news will only make things harder for her at home as her mom tries to make it up to her, albeit not always in the most productive ways.

“There’s a lot of, ‘Anywhere Jenna Hamilton goes, awkwardness is gonna follow,’ and that is very true with the letter as well,” teased Brett Davern, who stars as Jake. “I think it’s gonna cause some problems at home for her and within her family. And so, not only is her drama surrounding her school life, with us, the love triangle and all her friends and stuff, but also her at-home drama, I think, increases in season two as well.”

Mirchoff added, “It doesn’t become known to Matty and Jake. [They] possibly find out about it later in the season, but not right away.”

Don’t miss the season two premiere of “Awkward,” tonight (June 28) at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT (9:30 Central) on MTV!

Harry Potter Is Best Hero At MTV Movie Awards

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Boy wizard was in a heated battle with ‘Hunger Games’ heroine Katniss Everdeen in MTV’s first social-voting category.

He was a real human being and a real hero. Harry Potter came, he saw and he conquered tonight at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

The Boy Who Lived now enters the prestigious Best Hero ranks that, at this point, only include Christian Bale’s Batman from “Batman Begins.”

Harry Potter came out on top after a heated battle against Katniss Everdeen that totally eclipsed the category’s other three contenders: Thor, Captain America and “21 Jump Street” cop Jenko.

At least “Harry Potter” toppled two Avengers at the Movie Awards, since the Marvel superhero collective just beat out “Potter” to be the third-highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide. We get the distinct pleasure of knowing that fans think Harry Potter is a better hero than an all-American supersoldier and a Norse god.

Though Best Hero was a Movie Awards category back in 2006 when Bale won, this is the first year it was chosen by fans on Twitter. The first-ever social voting category had Twitter users support their favorite hero by sending tweets instead of casting their votes on the .

That’s two Golden Popcorns won, four lost and one to go for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” which was nominated a grand total of seven times at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. “Potter” is up against “The Hunger Games,” “Bridesmaids,” “The Help” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ for Movie of the Year, and it’s anyone’s guess as to which film will take that one home.

We know that seven is a meaningful number in the “Harry Potter” universe, with seven Horcruxes, seven years at Hogwarts and seven books. Heck, Harry Potter was even born in July! That bodes well for the movie’s Movie Awards chances this year.

This is the fourth Golden Popcorn the “Harry Potter” series has ever won. Tom Felton has had the honor of winning Best Villain the past two years, and both were fairly memorable experiences. First Mark Wahlberg interrupted his acceptance speech, and then Dave Grohl busted in on his post-win interview. Emma Watson accepted the award for Best Cast only minutes before the series’ titular character won Best Hero.

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards are officially under way! Stick with MTV News for minute-by-minute coverage, and don’t forget to go to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote for Best Movie!

Justin Bieber Helps Usher ‘Relive’ Teen Years

‘The first reaction is like no other,’ Usher says on ‘MTV First’ about witnessing Bieber’s ascent to fame.

Back in 1994, a teenaged Usher dropped his self-titled debut album and skyrocketed to fame. Nearly 20 years later, Usher is still on top, having lost little career momentum. While he’s maintained his own career over the years, he also helped launch Justin Bieber to mega-fame as well.

As Bieber continues to grow as an artist, Usher explained that the 18-year-old has built up the kinds of friendships and relationships that he would have wanted as a kid star. “Cool part about it is, he’s really able to live a dream that I think most teenagers would want to. To be able to have friends like Mayweather. They are actual friends, hang out, talk,” Usher told MTV News during “MTV First” about Bieber’s friendship with boxer Floyd Mayweather, who he recently hung out with in Las Vegas. “It’s really cool to be able to have friends all around the world and people that can relate to your reality.

“I don’t think Michael [Jackson] had people like that,” he continued. “I didn’t have a ton of people like that. I had Puff. I had JD [producer Jermaine Dupri] … but to be able to have friends all around the world that keep you, it’s cool.”

Their friendship was on full display recently when Usher performed in “Fuerza Bruta” back in April in New York City. Bieber dropped by to catch him getting his theater kid on, and midway through the show, the twosome battled it out on the dance floor.

“I was like, ‘Come on, I got you. Just chill out.’ Set it up,” he recalled about tricking the sleepy globe-trotting star to hang with him at the show. “[We] brought him to the middle of the dance floor, and we got it in. But we always show support for each other like that. We was housing a little bit.”

The guys will soon go head to head on the Billboard charts: Usher is set to drop his album, Looking 4 Myself, on June 12, and one week later, Bieber will release Believe. While it’ll be interesting to see those two fight it out on the charts, what’s more interesting for Usher is watching Bieber go through the same stuff he went through as a teen heartthrob.

“I relive every bit of it, from the screaming fans and the first reactions, shutting down the malls. The first reaction is like no other. To be able to be there, to be there with him and go through those emotions and see that shock for the first time [is exciting],” he said.
